It was evident though that the hotel is starting to show its age. The patio door was very difficult to open and close. There were only 2 lights that worked, bulbs were burnt out in all the others. The only concern for us was The balcony, we felt like the balcony could have been given More attention. For instance the spider webs along the top of the sliding door, in the corners, underneath the chairs. A Good sweeping and wash down of the balcony would have been Good. Exterminating The area periodically wouldn't hurt either, someone at The desk mentioned that The spiders were protected. I don't think guests want spiders in their rooms or beds though. We had a bit of a delay on getting the rooms we requested and reserved. Was a little disappointed that we were charged more for not having the rooms we reserved months prior. We were never told about the complimentary breakfast. We were just given recommendations for a few local restaurants. Breakfast cost us $100 (family of 4)...it was horrible food to boot (The Lighthouse).,.it could have been free. The breakfast hours are very short and it makes the line for breakfast very long during higher volume season because everyone is going at the same time. The breakfast itself seems to be mostly from items that can be microwaved (I recognized microwaveable pancakes, fruit cocktail from a can, microwaveable eggs). This is all very fine, but the reason I would call it good, not great. Some of the towels had stains on them, bright yellow/orange staining. The beachfront is also not quite as advertised, as a lot of the chairs in front are broken in some way and also mixed together with the other hotels on the row. I thought the service was excellent, I really liked the people who worked at the front desk. Overall, I think this hotel benefits the most from being within walking distance of the downtown area as well as the ferries, but that is not much different from the other hotels on the road.These comments are from a verified stay

Angelita was very hospitable for our needs. Breakfast hours are a 2 hour window. Our first morning we missed Breakfast, as the day before we were on the road for 6+ hours. Being elderly we rested into the morning, missing breakfast by 30 minutes.We did make it to breakfast barely at 9:00 the next morning, and breakfast was great. There was a great variety of hot and cold choices. As well as juices, coffee and tea. Due to my husband's health, we decided to leave a day early. I went to check out and the lady at the desk would not let me check out. She told me there's no early availability to check out, I would not be getting any money back, and was I sure I wanted to leave early. Yes, I was sure. While I may stay in Mackinaw City again, we will not choose this hotel. I've never had an issue needing to check out early due to health issues. I was not so concerned about the money as I was my husband's health. Once we left I was more concerned about the room still being in my name and we vacated. I did turn in the keys and asked for paperwork stating that we checked out. I was told my receipt is in my email and I could not have verification that I left early. I have never stayed in a hotel whereupon checking out was such an issue without any documentation. I did not receive any documentation when I checked in as well. I was not given any information of where to go to catch my fairy to the island, but because I purchased my tickets through them, I was given my tickets. The space was awesome but the rooms could use a little TLC or updating. The sliding glass door and screen to the porch & beach did not have locks. There was a foot pedal to block the door from opening. I was a bit concerned for safety. I would recommend adding locks to the doors.The view and beach access were great. The kids had a great time playing on the beach while I unpacked.We appreciate the included breakfast but were underwhelmed by the food itself. The service and location were great. We ate breakfast there, but we felt it could use some improvements on what is offered and a rotation would be nice so we didn't have the same options every morning. The pool was very cloudy our first day but cleared up by day 3. Someone from a youth group spilt ice cream along the pool deck which was still there the following evening which tells me the pool area isn't cleaned everyday. Location was nice and being right on the beach was convenient, however we were hoping for a cleaner beach area with more chairs. The rooms were highly outdated, the shower barely worked, the room smelled. They have a sign offering lowest Ferry prices, online it said that the hotel is a discounted Ferry price, but the prices were the exact same as if we bought them directly from the ferry, which is a slight issue if your budgeting your trip ahead of time. The breakfast was great, but the layout is bad for how busy of a hotel it is.
