8 out of 10Check in was easy.Staff were helpful.Can purchase slightly discounted ferry tickets at the desk (Sheplers only this year).Room was clean; decor is outdated if that matters to you -it doesn't matter to me.Bar/restaurant within a block or can walk "downtown" which is about 0.4-0.8mile walk.Lake front balcony room was wonderful (5 stars) however this year we had a 2 room lakeview balcony suite which is set up kind of wonky with door opening directly into one of the bedrooms which had the fridge then once passing thru the room it opened to a corridor with entrance to bathroom and then the other bedroom which had a couch, small table and the balcony. This set up means disrupting one bedroom for anything in fridge or if wanting to leave the suite (3 stars).Hot tub wasn't working properly this time but it still felt nice, hot and relaxing after a long drive (4 stars).The beach is sandy and very nice with lounge chairs available for use (5 stars).Free breakfast is not substantial and I only recommend planning on using this for grab and go items.*Close to ferry dock (used to be 5 star -see below).This was our second stay at this hotel. I choose this hotel because of its close proximity and easy walk to the ferry dock however this year that happened to be the ferry line that was bought out and essentially shut down. By staying at this hotel I was able to see a few ferries using the dock on Labor Day weekend which turned out to be a vacation saving observation! I walked over to the dock and found out they were running a boat every couple of hours to help with the holiday crowd however I had to purchase tickets for this "new" line (not Sheplers). Well, the other ferry dock's line was over 1/2 mile long by 1100 and we would have missed our horseback riding reservation at 3pm. We ended up unused discounted ferry tickets which I purchased from the hotel but that was no fault of the hotel staff. Given the ferry debacle of 2024 I'm not sure I'd stay loyal to this hotel since my main reason for choosing it was the proximity to ferry dock.However I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again once the ferry situation is sorted out or if the main focus of my stay wasn't getting to the island in a shortened weekend trip.These comments are from a verified stay

8 out of 10When we arrived the room we originally booked had a strong musty moldy smell. We went to the front desk and asked for a different room. They were very accommodating and immediately gave us another room. When we were moving our luggage out of the first room the maintenance worker met us and said he was going to take a look at what was wrong. The linens and towels seemed new and were nice. The staff we interacted with were efficient and pleasant. The price was reasonable for a tourist town. My reasons for my rating are, I found a "pink" ring around the shower head, this is a bacterium. I know this because my wife is a certified for kitchen sanitation and I am reminded of keeping the area around the sink drain and the shower needs to be kept clean.
