The room needs renovating. The water park was disappointing,. but the water was WARM. Definitely a plus when travelling with kids. The staff was invariably friendly and helpful. Pizza delivery to the room was a godsend at the end of a long travel day. The Arnold Line shuttle was terrific! It made getting to the Island a snap. Very nice beach. The bathroom had a tub so I should have asked for a shower or requested the handicap accessible room for my 91 years old mom. There was a musty smell in the room. The room was clean but the hotel is severely outdated. Went to my friends hotel room (in the same hotel) and it was significantly better. Im not sure if thats because their room was a handicapped room, but there should be more consistency. The pool, every time Ive been at this hotel, has had the same section locked out for maintenance within the last 3-4 years. Our room appeared to have been cleaned thoroughly and staff was friendly. The only downfall was that the big water slides were not working, which they dont tell you about upon booking or check-in. We had to find out ourselves. Also, the bowling game inside the arcade was broken, which would have been a really cool feature as it was one of only 4 games inside the arcade. Our king suite was super clean. And our Lakeview was beautiful. The only recommendation I have is to offer a better coffee bar if your not going to serve breakfast. Maybe some single wrapped muffins or graham crackers. And a cpl more tea selections. People are usually looking forward to nice cup of coffe and tea in the morning and being that its Mackinaw City.
