8 out of 10This was clearly an older property, and we knew that going in. Slightly threadbare carpet but bathroom was clean and room very spacious, with high ceiling (top floor) overlooking Lake Huron and the ferry pier. Beds were comfortable and furnishings were lovely old hardwood. We found that charming, but if you like something more modern looking this would not be that. TV had access to a lot of on-demand channels, which we took advantage of due to a couple of cold and rainy days. We had an issue with the faucet in our tub which was promptly fixed. Staff very friendly. Only area that could be improved was the free breakfast, which was not as good as it should have been: Hard boiled eggs served cold, tepid coffee, and rubbery pancakes. No fresh fruit. Like every other hotel in the area, there was a big price jump on the Saturday of the long weekend (Columbus Day), but this one had the lowest increase of all of them, which was partly why we chose it. Discounted tickets to ferry, which docked right next door, were available at front desk. Would stay here again.These comments are from a verified stay

6 out of 10We stayed for 2 night in a nice beachfront room. The desk clerk was very helpful opening our room, as the inside door flip over lock flipped when we left the room. Apparently maid service simply picking up dirty towels, making a bed, and possibly leaving more cups for coffee is a thing of the past. But when we walked in the hallway we were always asked if we needed anything. The only problem was the steps a lot of steps. And my husband is on a cane so its kind of challenging for us. Very close to Star Line Ferry ... easy walk. Things I think could be improved would be...repairs to the bathroom are needed (peeling wallpaper and some mold). Also would prefer to have a better breakfast rather than just the grab and go option. The rate was very competitive for the area and what we had as far as comfort and location, we appreciate the opportunity to review the hotel.
