Some updates would go a long way...fresh coat of paint, updated decor, one of lamp shades broken/falling off. Beach/water view was nice! 8 out of 10The Clarion beachfront hotel was reasonably priced, close to everything and so conveniently located. We had a suite so our family of 5 had a room for the parents attached to a room for the kids with a shared bathroom. Its often hard to fit 5 of us in a hotel without booking two rooms so we really appreciated this. Breakfast was included and was great! Some hot and cold items with enough variety to make everyone happy. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful. The beachfront was beautiful. I really loved that I was able to add options at booking like our ferry tickets at a discounted rate and then receive them at check in. Very convenient! The indoor water parks are located at various sister hotels within a close drive and are great for families with young children. My older kids were a little disappointed because the only two larger water slides were closed and not running. The only reason Im giving 4 stars and not 5 is because everything (even the sister hotels with the water parks) was a little dirty and rundown. Dirt in the corners, cracked tubs, cloudy pools you couldnt see to the bottom of. That was the only negative. Beds were clean though and we enjoyed our stay! 8 out of 10We stayed one night, just a few days after the hotel opened for the season. The staff were welcoming, professional, and very friendly. Our first visit to the area. We got some really good advice about local attractions as well as some info about our travels to our next destination. Our room was clean & well maintained. The beach area was really nice, except for the early spring fish flies, and the grounds were well cared for. The breakfast room was clean, and we were happy to find the "deluxe continental breakfast" was better than expected. Until a few years ago, I had participated in the Memorial Day reenactment activities at the fort for over 30 years, so we decided to revisit Mackinaw City and chose the Clarion hotel through advertising.Tourist rate food prices are beyond the normal reach of an old geezer who has outlived his pension. Paying $70, including the tip, for a couple to have a couple drinks and a sandwich will deter another visit real soon.These comments are from a verified stay

8 out of 10This must have been a lovely hotel years ago. It does show it's age today. The bed was super comfortable. The shower room had a giant spider web in the light fixture above. I did tell the front desk that. If you are looking for a hotel with a good breakfast, then this is not the place. It was marginal at best. The staff was very nice.
