Would you stay again? Yes
Just got back from a three night stay at the Clarion. If you want low prices, no crowds or bugs, fall is the time to go to Mackinaw. We stayed in the king sized bed jacuzzi room with a lake view. And what a view it was! The Arnold Ferry dock was conveniently right next door and we could see Mackinac Island from our balcony.
Nice free breakfast.
The choices were scrambled eggs, excellent sausage patties, biscuits and gravy, make-your-own waffles which were so good that I had one every morning, four different kinds of juices, milk, tea, coffee, several kinds of breads, bagels and english muffins with an assortment of jams, cream cheeses and peanut butter, three different cold cereals. hot cereals and fresh fruit. YES, the cups could have been bigger and the plastic silverware was cheap. However, for a free breakfast, this is the best one I have ever had.
The jacuzzi in the room was wonderful, the bed comfortable, the room clean and attractively appointed. Our room had a small refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. We didn't hear a peep from any of the other rooms and we had people on both sides of us. The pool was clean and refreshing and the grounds meticulously maintained.
The only drawbacks were that the check-in took a while for the quality of hotel, and parents beware: the tap water is scaldingly hot. We enjoyed our stay here immensely and would come back to the Clarion again and again.
