This place is good, but not outstanding. The service is excellent, the rooms are decent, if a bit dated. I would definitely appreciate a better positioning of power outlets. (phones, children's handheld games, etc all need power outlets. However it moved from GOOD to OUTSTANDING because of the helpful staff. We rode a motorcycle up for a change of activity and my wife burnt her leg on the exhaust. The Saft bent over backwards on a Sunday to assist us!!!! I stay all over the country and most would have just told us we the hospital was. This was my first trip to Mackinaw and I was a little wary not knowing which hotel to book. The Best Western Dockside was one of the cleanest, neatest hotels I have ever been to. That alone, was a huge plus for me. I can't tell you how much it ruins a trip to stay somewhere with mold/mildew in the bath, stale odors, and leaky ceilings and half-cleaned rooms. The view was awesome and was exactly as pictured on the website. The only thing that disappointed us was the fitness center. For a hotel this size, I was expecting the quantity and the quality of the equipment to be better, but it really didn't interfere with my enjoyment of the trip. I was apprehensive about the room until we got into it. The accommidations were GREAT. There were lots of room to move around even with the optional roll-away bed. The bathroom area outside the shower was roomy, and well kept. The room was clean and no outside noises were heard. The breakfast the next morning was topnotch. It was clean and there were enough towels for everyone. The front desk was very helpful with a special request to store a wheelchair until our arrival and upon our checking in, brought the wheelchair to us immediately upon hearing my name at check in. The only reason I didn't choose outstanding is because I felt the price of the room was a little high, the tv in the room was old style and placed in a wooden cabinet not centered in the room and hard to see from both beds, and there wasn't enough parking at night.
