We had access to the beach and to the pool and exercise room. However the pool was not open early enough for a morning swim before check out time to really be able to take advantage of it. The breakfast buffett was very adequate but we were glad that we are physically fit older seniors. We saw one couple struggle with climing the stairway to get to the buffet. I would go ther again. The lady that cleaned our room and the lady that ran the breakfast buffet were very friendly and made our stay more enjoyable. It was nice to come back to a clean room and to be greeted by the stuffed animals that were neatly placed on my children's beds. We can't say enough how nice it was to be greeted by a familiar face each morning at the breakfast buffet. The lady always had a smile on her face while singing along with the positive songs on the radio she had playing. Wow! That really started our day off on a positive note! Other customers stated the same thing-to hear nice music and to see a smiling face every morning. I have referred your hotel to 9 of my staff members. Actually, two of them have already booked a room for next year! I would like to say the front desk staff were not as friendly or welcoming as the housekeepers and the women serving breakfast. I booked the rooms on the internet and requesting ajoining rooms, if possible. We had no problems getting the rooms together, which was very helpful to us. The breakfast buffet was a good way to start the day and kept us going until late in the afternoon. The beach was great and the we had a wonderful time swimming in the lake. Thank you also for the waterpark passes. The kids really enjoyed that. This hotel was recommended to me from a friend of mine that had stayed here last year. The view is breathtaking you can see Mackinac Island from your room, the rooms are clean, the complimentary breakfast has everything for every individual,whether you like sweet foods, healthy foods, or hearty foods. However, I managed OK and it wasn't the Clarion's fault - I didn't specify "no steps" when I booked the room. We took two grandchildren there and they enjoyed the beach, lake, and pool.
