We (My wife, 2 children, and I) arrived a little before normal check in, about 11:00 A.M. but were given a very nice room with a beautiful view of Lake Michigan. The room was a little older but clean, and the vaulted ceilings gave the feeling of being in a much larger hotel room. Been at Clarions several times. It seems only fair that if you stay 3 night (the norm is one for travelers), that the hotel could give those staying (1) dinner voucher. However, there were a couple things that caught our eye. On the day we checked in, there were piles of soiled linens on the walkway outside our room. These stayed there for the better part of the day, almost into the night. I don't know why they weren't taken care of at the time cleaning of the rooms was completed. The woman who checked us in at the front desk did not have a friendly, outgoing manner about her, something I have come to expect and appreciate when staying at a hotel. When I asked questions, she spoke quickly in short answers, and it was difficult to know what she was saying. The other woman at the desk, who was helping other customers, offered more in the way of conversation with me. However, a gentleman took care of me when checking out, and he was great. The room was comfortable & clean & we appreciated the coffeemaker & bath amenities. The breakfast was good, although the location wasn't the most convenient. We had to go up or down stairs to acces the elevator or even to go to the breakfast. In the last year I'd had both hips & both knees replaced so stairs while carrying luggage is challenging. The staff were nice the room was excellent. The only thing I didn't like was the breakfast crowd. The first morning no buses, the line up was minimal. However the second morning there were two bus loads of people, the place war jammed at eight thirty. We skipped breakfast and left the hotel. Should three not be a notice or something telling guests that bus loads of people will be eating between say seven thirty and nine. Would we return? We had a 1st floor beachfront room with balcony and hot tub. The room was very comfortable and laid out well. It was so relaxing to sip my morning coffee on the balcony and watch thee sun come up over lake Huron. We did a lot of sightseeing (walking) and a soak in the hot tub was a great way to relax back in our room. Our room was always immaculately clean and the entire staff was gracious and helpful. This was my first trip to the area. I was put on the fourth floor, and the view was wonderful. The room was oversized and bright...just lovely. The hotel and staff made this mini vacation one I'll remember for a long time. Would I come back...YES!!! Would I stay at the Clarion again..YES!!! Would I recommend the Clarion...YES!!!
