The waterpark/pool was great for our granddaughters. The room was clean, however, the sliding glass door to the balcony would not lock. We, therefore, had to change rooms because there wasn't anyone to repair the door in our first room. Staff was courteous and friendly. But if you don't feel like walking, there is a back entrance to parking lot for a real fast shortcut. :-) Beach was great, and peaceful - we had lake front room that was fabulous. Staff was wonderful and friendly. 5 star friendly. By the third step into the lobby (on each occasion) the person at the desk acknowledged me with hello, be right with you, how can I help you sayings. The reason for the good rather than outstanding was that in order to stay waterfront it is a little difficult to get to your room with a suitcase. You take an elevator and go down a breezeway which sounds easy enough, however there are a few small flights of stairs as well. The floors do not seem to be level. Also the 25 foot buffet does not have much variety, there are multiple duplications on it. The food that is there is good and the area is large, with lots of windows. Also, you have to go outside and across the parking lot to get to the pool area. Once you are inside it is very nice, just not convenient.These comments are from a verified stay

Quick service in every area from the moment we walked in the door . (With out reservations)we were treated like we mattered.we got exactly what we reserved (3 weeks ago @ BAYSIDE.and DIDN'T GET ) when we walked into Fairview I was immediately relaxed knowing my children and grandchildren would have a place to stay for the next 2 nights . (AS THE BAYSIDE SOLD OUR RESERVED ROOMS AND LIED TO US AND SAID SOME GIRLS DESTROYED THE ROOMS AND THEY UP GRADED US TO A LESS THAN ACCOMMODATING HOTEL .which we neglected to stay at .so back we drove to Bayside (after 5 hours on the road with a 3yr old 6 yr 9 yr 10 yr and 2 11yr old kids )the desk clerk not caring one bit ...SHE WAS THE RUDEST CUSTOMER SERVICE PERSON WE EVER HAD TO DEAL WITH ALONG WITH THE OWNER.My family has stayed there last yr but under there name .NOT ANY MORE.so they lost future revenue. The lies we were told was unnecessary. We never received a phone call .we literally walked in with our baggage (12 peoplep and were told to go away ...so in getting back to the real question .how was my stay at Fairview ..ONCE WE WERE THERE WE NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT BAYSIDE AGAIN ..THAT'S HOW GREAT IT WAS ... Breakfast needs improvement like yogurts and fruit. Not everyone wants a waffle, eating healthy should be a priority or at least give more options. The city is beautiful And the people of the community were so very courteous And helpful. The trolley ride is a given and the ferries over To the island were awesome. I would strongly suggest this hotel for families that want to enjoy Mackinaw city. The boat launch is within walking distance.
