The Beach House Overview
Seven cottages sit directly on the beachfront the others back up in a U shape from the beach. Everyone staying at the Beach House has access to our private beach.
The Beach House is pet friendly (small pet fee) with 2 animals maximum. All hotel rooms in Michigan are non smoking. Smoking is permitted outdoors.

10 out of 10I absolutely enjoyed our stay at the beach house. the gentlemen working the front desk was polite and upgraded our room since we stayed for multiple days. the location was perfect. the appearance of the cottages was a little outdated but i wasn’t there for the appearance of the room.These comments are from a verified stay

10 out of 10Surprisingly quiet. We originally had a single cabin with a queen bed. We got up graded to a large cabin with a queen bed which is the way to go. It had a full bath. Just a warning the queen cabin is very small. Just big enough to fit the queen bed and the bath is a single stand up shower stall. Any eating will be done sitting in the bed. Beautiful beach and the fire pit is sweet. Only downside is the water pressure in our cabin was very weak in the shower. If you expecting the Ritz you will be a little upset. 8 out of 10First, I LOVE the Beach House. Historically and personally it is an "up north stay" personified. A real gem and it should be maintained that way. I was sorry when we heard from other guests that their cottage was not even close to clean or maintained properly. Our stay itself was perfect because of the genuine northern cottage and lake views. The manager used terms like: "don't complain or I'll deny it" and "the owners don't care and are tearing these down" to keep the guests from saying anything. I hope the community of Mackinac City finds a way to maintain this gem and others like it. We got exactly what we wanted in staying there. Nostalgia, a beautiful view of the bridge, island and lake and access to Mackinac City. Our stay in the area was perfect for us. These cottages need your professional attention. It desperately needs serious updating. The kitchenette sink was stained and the enamel worn from years of use. Though it was clean. The bathroom linoleum was faded and stained and peeling at the edges. Tiny bathroom sink with no counter space. Although it was clean. Wallpaper was dated and peeling. The beds were comfortable and clean. Old-ness aside, the place was clean and comfortable. We absolutely loved the location and the beach. We have already made reservations for next year! On the beach, Volleyball net on the beach, indoor pool, pet friendly, and easy access into the cabin (individual units). 10 out of 10I usually do tent camping, but staying in the cabins at the Beach House was amazing! the cabin was clean, the beds comfortable and the kitchenette was perfect for our stay. the beach was only 50' from our cabin and was clean with a couple of fire pits. there are beach chairs and swings provided so that you don't have to bring your own. you will have to go to a store to buy your firewood as it is not provided by the facility. i cannot wait to return next year!These comments are from a verified stay

8 out of 10Finding dog-friendly lodging that is decent can be difficult, and the Beach House was perfect for our stay! I loved the privacy offered by these small cabins, and although they could use updates, everything was perfect for our little family and two pups. We didn't have to worry about our dogs barking at every little unfamiliar sound throughout the night because the location was very quiet and relaxing. Our doggies had a blast running and splashing in the lake, and our little pup learned to swim for the first time! The proximity for walking to the dock for the Mackinaw Ferry and the restaurants in Mackinaw City was perfect, and we found several dog-friendly establishments that would allow dogs on the patio (one within 2 tenths of a mile right across the street). I also enjoyed the ability to purchase our ferry tickets from the hotel, and the advice we got from the man there helped a lot with our dogs in tow. If you stay here, bring a small grill or items that can be microwaved. The kitchenettes are provided, but no utensils or cookware is, so consider this option "glamping" at its best. Refrigerator worked great, and we appreciated access to an ice machine and a cup of coffee to begin the day. We will be back!These comments are from a verified stay

10 out of 10We had a great time staying at the Beach House! Martin was kind enough to bump us to the larger cabin with a kitchenette as the days we were there some were available. The room was a great for the price! I love being in a cabin much more than a traditional hotel so this was a perfect choice for our vacation! Martin was the best host recommending some great tourist destinations and making sure we got the best experience for our money. We plan to go back sometime during a summer month when the weather is nicer and we can enjoy the lakeside right outside these cabins. The view was stunning!These comments are from a verified stay

8 out of 10We liked the little retro cottages and my sister and I were quite happy with our two bed courtside. Access to the beach was as promised. Enjoyed the hot muffins in the office each morning. Had hoped to do more cooking in the kitchenette but there were no pans or dishes provided and we hadn't brought anything with us. Would suggest that they add a coffee maker and a toaster to each room and put in their description that you need to bring your own pots & pans, etc if you want to cook on the two-burner provided.
